This doesn't mean that such writings are not uninspired writings. All writings in the Bible are still God's Word, whether the events it contained are factual or not.

Individual Catholics and even parishes, know this is nothing new. To the Catholic church as an instiution, it's a incredible step.
I know a goo dmany Catholic friends who will be happy that the church finaly made this annoucement. :)

This bit has to be Benedict's doing. He's pretty hard line and now it's showing. I like him even more now!

Yes, it's a 'well duh' common sence document. But heck, when do you hear of any organized ANYTHING putting out one of those? :)

Personally, I always thought Creation-as-science was a hilarious idea. Because apparently the world was created twice. And Adam and Eve had two kids, one of whom killed the other, and then went on and married some chick. Now, where did that other chick come from...? XD

And I have met many fundie-Catholics. They go to a Cathoilic church, go to mass, and beleive that the bible is to be translated literatly. They're scary SOBS who give all Catholics bad names (as if the organzational structure of the religion didn't do that already. -_-)
It's just very nice to see the structure of the largest body of Christians acklowlage that you cannot take all this stuff literaly. It's a hell of a big step to have that in writing.

*snicker*
...if they believe that, they're not really Catholic. I mean, you're generally allowed to call yourself Catholic as long as you hang on to basic dogma, but, er, the not-taking-it-literally bit IS basic dogma. That's why we've got all those theologians who are saints and such.

Alot of people seem to think all Christianity is Catholism anyway, so... -_-
Ya know, it would be nice to get a compatative religions class be offered in schools so people could have more of a bloody clue about things. Most people don't even know much at all about their own religion, never the mind anyone elses.

...riiiiiiight. Do people not, like, look around? I mean, sheesh, I can name about ten churches in my hometown and here that are decidedly NOT Catholic.
That would be nice, but it would have to be an elective, and nobody would willingly take a class like that. X_x;;

Why should we call something perfect if it's from a liar?
