This is nothing new. Any Catholic who knows thier faith well enough (many don't) knows that parts of the Bible aren't true, for instance the Book of Tobit and Judith are both religious novels written by unknown authors.

This doesn't mean that such writings are not uninspired writings. All writings in the Bible are still God's Word, whether the events it contained are factual or not.
