Look what ~I~ found!

*giggle*

Old story from Aug 95! Be amused!

An old, dusty, blue and brown truck chugged along at a slow pace, much to the annoyance of the other drivers on the interstate. The old man driving the ancient auto ignored the car horns and kept going his slow, but steady, 30 miles-per-hour, complaining to his driving companion, a bored looking young woman.
"These speedin' reckless drivers!" He exclaimed, in a cranky voice. A dark blue car swerved in front of him, honking its horn. "Ya youn' whippersnapper!" He yelled after the driver, "Why, when I was your age, if a car went over 10 m.p.h., it was considered speeding! You youninz never appreciate nothin'!" The old truck began rattling, as he switched gears. "Damn this newfangled device!" He complained. "What's this blinkin' light mean?" He squinted at the dash board. "Damn this stupid car!" He thumped on the dashboard three times, and the light went off.
"That's not the way you should treat a car, even a junk heap like this one." The woman commented, looking out the window.
"Well why not?" The old man stated, his indignant voice cracking. "It's like a bad child. It needs a few good thumps!"
The woman turned to look at the gray haired driver, "Ed," she addressed him, "it's a machine. We've told you this a million times before. The only thing you do by pounding it is hurt your hand. Remember how you put your hand through the TV?"
"Yeah, yeah, I know," the man grumbled, abruptly switching lanes, ignoring the fresh batch of honking and swearing that resulted.
"You really should let us drive," the woman stated, giving the old man a look of smugness.
"Yeah, so you can get us lost like you did last time! Which one are you today anyway?" He again switched lanes.
"GO BACK TO THE NURSING HOME WHERE YOU BELONG!" a blond teenager yelled from a passing car.
"Ah, go play on the train tracks, ya hippie!" the man yelled back, ignoring the teen's resulting laughter.
"Better lost than dead," The woman replied, giving an odd half grin. "I'm Lania; Noral and Taial are sleeping, and Ranis doesn't feel like talking."
"How many of ya are there anyway?" the man asked, clutching the steering wheel.
"Just us four." Lania remarked. "Now would you let us drive? You're going to get us killed!"
"Oh all right." the man conceded, pulling the car to the side of the highway. "But no switching on me! That how we got lost!" he demanded, as he got out of the truck.
"That was Ranis's fault! She wanted to go to that new shop in Newbrook!" the woman protested, exiting the old truck. Suddenly her face contorted horribly and seemed almost to take on different features. "She's lying," she said in a different voice. "I wasn't in charge then, Noral was!"
"I SAID NO SWITCHIN'!" the man yelled.
Lania's face relaxed and returned to normal. "I didn't tell Ranis she could talk; she just tried to take over!" she protested.
"Nothin' worse then a schizophrenic teenager!" the man muttered, rolling his eyes.
"Ed, we're NOT teenagers! We're all 21! Except for Noral, she's only 16, but that doesn't matter." the woman declared.
"But you're still a schizo!" he retorted.
"Or so the doctors claim," she responded scornfully. "Just because we're four people in one body, does not make us schizo. Just a case of multiple personalities."
"You're gonna make my blood pressure go so high, it'll kill me." the man declared, limping over to the passenger's side.
"Blood pressure has nothing to do with it. As the saying goes: 'It's all in your mind'." She paused, looking thoughtful "Of course, they were referring to our schizophrenia at the time, but hey, we aren't choosy." she laughed.
He gave her a look of annoyance. "Damn it, girl, I don't know why I just don't ship you back to the loony bin where ya' belong!"
"Because you know we'll escape." She opened the driver's side door and slid into the seat. The man grumbled some, then entered the beat up truck.
