I'll give 'em forty buck for the pile.

...well, you could certainly make some interesting (if environmentally hazardous) sculptures with all that excess computer crap.

That was part of the plan. The rest involved salvaging parts and selling all the bits that work.

That's funny because they just made it illegal to throw away computers, TVs, or cell phones in our county as of 3 days ago.

Problem is... this has now created a new market for Computer Recycling Companies who are happy to recycle old electronics, for a fee of course.

THey shouldn't need a fee, they're getting free stuff to scalp suplies from. :)

That's another thing... how do you know when you bring them your computer, that they're not going to go in there and get all your bank account #s and passwords and crap? That makes me nervous...

[identity profile] franthenut.livejournal.com 2005-10-05 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
Very simple. Format your harddrive. What makes you think throwing it out would have prevented that sort of theft? [and why are you saving that infor on your computer anyway?]

[identity profile] silvertoaster.livejournal.com 2005-10-05 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
Oh ok. Good idea. :)

I'm not saving that info... but I assume it would be possible to access information from websites I've visited and so forth. I mean *I* have no idea how to do that, but if it fell into the hands of someone who did...

Unless you have the password manager auto fill in your passwords, they could not use your computer to get yoru info any more then they could use someone elses. You can [and should really] clean ut the temp. inet files on your computer regularly and clean out various cookies. All you could do from your computer would be find out what sites you've gone too really.
