Intresting artical titled: The Domesticated Superhero

Partly a movie ad, but it has some intresting points.

Spider-Man exclaims at his ability to shoot webs out of his fingertips, and the masturbatory reference is lost on no one.

Ummm... evidently it was lost on me. Decent article which brings up some good points, but the author is a little sex obsessed.

I have a few friends who would have the same coment as the author did. Gutter minds and all. Not having seen the movie I wouldn't know if there was some facial expresions or what not that added to the "obviousness" of it but... I'd say that's a streach m'self as well. The comentary on the change in superhero imagry was mostly what I was intrested in. :)

A change in imagery....maybe. But the thing is, Peter Parker has always been an outcast nerd.

The rest of the article seems more observational than anything, and generally I'm a fan of "humanising" superheroes. It's rather small-minded to assume that just because they become "human" they lose their power over the imagination.
