Welp, for those who keep track of my school stuff, I'm dropping feild botany. I was fine (though a bit @_@) the first two days but then we hit labs...
"Looking at the shape of this cell, what do you think it does?"
Between not being able to find the bloody cell or beable to tell what the cell I was looking at was it and teh fact that most of them all looked the same and I had NO idea what I was doing an the micrscope was giving me a migraine and the teacher was UNGODLY unhelpful, how in fuck am I supose to just... GUESS what a cell does by looking at it's shape?! I have yet to take any bio courses! No classes were listed as a prereque! This was a 200 level class!
I have no fucking clue what to do in these labs and it hurts my head and the teacher just sits there chatting about beer and his grandkids. There is no text book. There are no referace materials expet a pile of random books leanign agaist the wall.
The Fran who dislikes and avoids textbooks, is wishing the class had one.
I feel like I needed to have taken bio before taking this class and/or a year of botany to get anything going on here. The lecture before the lab has very little to do with the lab. The labs are basicly imersion inquriy based learning. 'We're gona give you some suplies and a list of things to do that you've never done before. Have at it.' Took me 15 min to just figure out how to adjust stuff with the mircoscope cause I've never done more then just peer into these types before.
So... yeah. After two labs where I just was all '... ookaaaaay... I don;'t get this at all' and after hearing the teacher say a few times to another chick who also was having the 'I'm so lost here' 'Why are you dumping on yourself?' as if that was helpful...
So I'm dropping that. -_-
