My speach teacher will loooove me. :D

My speach for my final:

I had a bunch of speech topics in mind for today, about the social hazards of cell phones or how much this culture is a victim of it's own stereotypes but I realized very few of you actually listen and very few of you would care no matter what I spoke on. Because, after all, this is just a gen. ed course. One of those annoying little classes you go to because you have to. I doubt most of you would be here if this class wasn't a requirement for graduation. I know I wouldn't. Having to get up in front of a classroom and talk about your dog, or your boyfriend, or how to make a sandwich or something else so trivial that you know no one else will listen... what's the point? Or maybe you just printed something out to read, barely giving it a 2 second look over before attempting to present it. After all, it's not like this class is in your major, why bother to put in any real effort at all? It's just a little class the school makes people take because it thinks that it'll make them a more well rounded individual. All you have to do is pass.
It's such a joke. Force people to open their eyes and learn about new things? Like that would ever happen. After all, the point of getting an education is to get a job to get money. Almost no one learns for learnings sake, and if they do, it's not while in college. After all, you have to get a GOOD degree or else all that money you paid will go to waste. Any history major can tell you that. It's all about the practical applications of things, answering the question of "What kind of job are you going to get with THAT?"
So why bother putting energy into schooling? Sail along, putting in what you have to to get the grades you need. Spend the class thinking about when you have to get to work later, or how you're going to fit in everything you want to do and how much you don't want to be here. It's such a nice day out, why do we have to be inside? I have work tonight, I hope we get out early. I can't wait til that party starts and I can get wasted. I can't believe she's still talking.
But this is such an IMPORTANT class to be in! After all, look at what the textbook says! "You too can become rich and powerful if you follow these easy steps!"
But we all know that's not how it works. After all, that's what we've all learned in school, right? Find out what the teacher wants and give it to her. Let her believe that what she's teaching is reaching her students when in reality, you just wish she'd shut up and let the class go early. Or better yet, not show up at all so you can spend the period doing something you care about. The real world isn't much different. Smile and nod as people go on and on, tell your boss what he wants to hear, don't rock the boat else you'll be stuck in a dead end job forever.
So congratulations. This class has done a lot to prepare you for life outside a classroom. You're now that much closer to getting your degree in the fine art of functional indifference.
