Debating doing a double major. I think I want to do art.
I'm already planning on doing soething with Photograph, and since there doesn't appear to be just a minor for that.
It means I'll be more then 2 years to finish up... however...
I want to do this. It's something I've been thinking of for a while now.
I never really did much art wise growing up because that wasm y brother's thing. He was the artist. He got the lessions, the suplies, the recognition. I got the stuff he didn't want and some stuff to make it 'equal' But I never really did much with it cause that was my brother's thing. How to compair... everything I did was just doodles. Copying styles cause I never had much of an idea what else to do.
One day on campus, we were out at the diner and I was doodling a CLAMP style eye on the placemat. One of the guys who had come along was an art student and he gave me some pointers on how to do a realistic eye.
It's the one thing I can draw well without a guide.
I have my 'copy' art. Back in middleschool I manged to near perfecly replicate a page out of a Animaniacs colouring book cause I didn't want to colour in the book. I didn't trace. When HK was trying to draw Honda and wasn't getting what I was pointing out with the shoulders, I hauled out a manga and did a quick copy sketch of Honda with out a face to show what I ment. Maybe someday I'll scan that again and put it up. Not sure.
Was talking with Juchan yesterday about this because of my photos and she said I have an artistic eye. This is part of the reasons I have the best screencaps. It's not unlike photography. You're finding the moment with the best look to it and captureing it.
I know I'm not going to be a big famous artist. I know I'm not likely to find a job in the art feild. But I'd like to at the very least get a side job with my photography.
It's a subject that my parents would frown at. it's not a 'real' subject. It's not something likely to get me a job.
But I want to do it. I want to capture the art I see around me and share it with the world.
Isn;t that what an artist does?

It sounds to me like you do have some desire to create art. If you are certain that Photography is the particular area that you want to pursue, then I would encourage you to do so.
Your past sounds strikingly familiar, actually. In my family, it was always my older brother who was the artist. I always sort of wanted to draw like he could, but I always talked myself into thinking that I wasn't capable of it.

Absolutely. Go for it. It makes you happy, and you want to, so I see no reason why you shouldn't. :D
(And besides, photography = fun.)
