Is there really that much hatred and bigotry in this country?
'Kerry sx cux he likes gays'
The amount of times I heard that when I was on Runescape last night... that or similar.
So, it looks like those who yell 'Kill em all!' are carrying the vote, and the man who did wrong when America could DO no wrong may get another try.
Gods, please? Whomever wins... Guide them to peace? The hate I'm seeing keeps growing and noone wants to address it. When did hate become an American value? The teenagers of this country became pro-Bush. Tradionaly, the younger voters are Democratic. All the 'Bush kept us safe' propaganda, the scare tactics of his ad campain ['We can't afford to look weak']...
Why did the side of war start winning? Why did the site of hate take the lead?
...
I'm afraid.
I'm afraid of what will be 20 years from now when the teenagers who proudly declaire that all Iraqies should die, that all 'those damned ragheads' are all the same, who think death is the answer to everything, that having the bigger army makes you the bigger man... What happens, when these people, who never got told that it is not alright to hate someone just because they happen to look like a small group of 100 people who attacked your country?
I had a friend in college who's family had come from Iraq. She was born in the US. After the twin towers fell, her family was endlessly harassed, told to leave the country and she felt afraid to walk back to her dorm after classes.
That aditude never went away.
We need a healing. For the country, for the world. We need the hatred to stop. Or else we are going to crumble from the inside.
This does not mean for everyone to call upon their respected deities and demand the election be 'put right' Gods should never be involved in politics. But something needs to be done to put to rest the hatred that this war, that this election, has caused.
Someone on the news said, that whomever wins this ellection needs to extend a hand to the other party. So often, this country has seemed on the brink of a civle war, so bitter, so tence, so hate filled was this election. 'You'd better vote for Bush or you're an freedom hating terrorist.' 'You'd better vote for Kerry or else you're a hate-filled natzi' [note, while I have heard the first statment, I havne't heard one for Kerry. Most of the pro-Kerry 'banter' I have heard has been along the lines of 'Bush sucks!' Living ina state that was assumed going for Kerry, we only got the pro-Bush, anti-Kerry ads] People saying that they were going to do their best to chalange voters to make sure their canadate was elected.
I just want to curl up under my blankets and hide from the world.

Kerry succeeded. Bush won. Please let this world survive. I want my children and my children's children to have a bright and safe future.
May we keep safe under the reign of a maniac.
