Re: Religion

Was reading a random artical on a gay newspaper that made me want to bang my head agaist the wall. Some person saying that the pope was an asshole for not ackolwageing that anal sex was pleasureable.

My friend, you miss the point interly.

In catholism, sex is for procreation, not pleasure. Masterbation and birth controll are sins because of that fact. Sex is a duty, not a joy. This all comes from 'Be fruitful and multiply.' There's only one major trouble wih that.

That comand was given when there was TWO people on this earth. CONTEXT, people, CONTEXT.

Sex for purely procreation is a very outdated consept. There are more then enough people on this earth, you don;t have to worry about populating it anymore.

Sex is a natural function of the body. Repressing it only leads to problems. There's many stores of monks and nuns falling in love and breaking their vows of celebacy to pray to god in a diffrent way. I honestly think the policy of celebacy is what leads to all the preist child molesteres. When your body screams at you for release and every day and all you see are small boys and girls... [Yes, girls get molestedby pedefials as well. Boys just get more spotlight cause of the antiquated 'Girls are temptresess' mind set that says she was asking for it.]

Do you honestly think God would make sex such a pleasurable experance just to forbid it for pleasure and say it must only be a duty? How often must you br reminded that God is love? Why do you beleive that a love for another person could be evil? Why would you think that a God, who by your own CHristian bible sent his only son to tell the world his message of love, would condem lovers to hell? Just because they used a condom. Because they didn't have sex for the reason of having a child. Because they enjoyed their sexual endevers. Because they had sex outside of marrage. Becase you don't think their love is right.

Do you know, there;s a good chance that the messiah that the judeo-christian religions have been waiting for to come [or come back] may have already arrived? If anyone came proclaiming they were the messiah, they would be mocked, tossed into an insane assilum, or become a cult leader and be shunned by all major religions. In older times, if they performed any miricals, they would have been killed for being a scorcer. Because religions get ridgid and prone to saying everything is blasphemous.

And noone is alowed to say that God spoke to them anymore without being rediculed and called a heratic. You can talk to God all you want, but if you say he talked back, or sent you a sign like he did in olden days, you'll be called insane. Even if something that the bible says will happen or has happened to someone happens, you are still insane. And if not insane, you're blaspheming religion with your claime.

There;s no room in organized relgiion for change. And that is the source of all it's problems.

Word and word.

And seeing as the law of the world is 'evolve or get smote'...well, no wonder less and less people are hardcore-organised-religious these days.

Just a Quote

Actually the Bible is against mainstream religion. Forgot what verse it was our pastor Chris said it was, but he was pretty passionately against it. Christianity isn't even called "religion" in the Bible, they call it the "faith".

As far as sex goes, boy, did the Catholics get it wrong. What God meant by be fruitful and multiply, he meant that when you marry, have sex ALOT. And not just for making children but for the sheer joy and pleasure of pleasing your partner.

"Let the husband render to his wife the affections due to her, and likewise also the wife to her husband. The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. And likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. Do no deprive one another except with consent for a time, that you may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again so that Satan does not tempt you because of your lack of self-control" --1 Corinthians 7:3-5

So not only must we have sex with our significant others a lot, but also both sexes can dominate in bed. That sort of shoots down the Catholic belief that the female should always be passive, when the Bible clearly states that if she wants it, then she can go ahead and get it.

I'll try to get into this later (I'm at work and kinda busy right now), but your statements regarding the Catholic Church haven't been true in any real form since about 1950.

As for the Messiah being killed/etc., that's one of the things the Bible even says--persecute false Messiahs, as the real one will survive anyway.

There's a lot of room in organized religion for change. See Vatican II, its follow-ups, and the state of the Church today (especially in, for example, the Archdiocese of Seattle). There have been several posts and discussions to this effect in [livejournal.com profile] garpu's and my journal recently, for starters. :)
