It's like when people translate Yadonushi as Kings Property....
Two kanji. One word. Combined meaning. Yet people insist on trying to translate both kanji seperately.
It apparently is a desise throughout... When you look up a symbol, why do you look up the colours that appear in it as well as if they were seprate?
And why would you beleive the words of a webpage over someone who you know has this has a major 'This is what I do!' twitch?
But thats another rant. This is a context rant.
You cannot expect to find the meaning of something if you only have one peice of the puzzle or if you refuse to acknowalge that the two peices go together. Yet people do it all the time. "What does this symbol in a dream mean? And I need to know an EXACT meaning! Type it up for me!" [Yes, this is a specific rant, but I've given it to her direct, so..]
Like you can have an exact meanign for something that your mind created in order to try and give you a message in a way that you could comprehend. Like there;s a set definition in sybolism at all.
Sheesh, use some COMON sence! Yes, guys dreaming of pregancy are to be warned about not using a condom. *rolls eyes* Sexist symbolsm. Of course, when you beleive a dream of being pregent means you;re afraid of pregnacy isn't sencible either. If you dream of a pregnacy going horribly WRONG, yes. You dream of demonic babies trying to eat your soul or such, yes. You dream of your mother finding out and kicking your ass cross country, yes. But if you dream of being pregent and find wonder at it... if you react positivivly to it... If a woman who;s despritate to conseive dreams of being pregent, does that mean she's afraid of it too, hmmm?
Context damnit. I swear, half of what;'s wrong with people is the refusal to acknowlage context. And look at English classes will show you that. Yes, I'm sure Shakesphere had this exact meaning in mind when he wrote that, mmm hmm. And I'm sure that poet was thinking of this english class when he wrote that line and was trying to put that exact image in your head.
If you can have 3 opinions in a room with 2 people, how in hell can ANYTHING have a set specific meaning? When there's been raging debate for YEARS over when something can be truely called alive and human... When the word 'Black' has to be changed to 'Dark' because it could be taken the wrong way, when 'Dark' could mean any number of things... How in hell can you have the arrogance to claim that any one symbol has a concreat solid meaning? It's a SYMBOL for crying out loud! It has more meaning then just a simple definition. A cross is two lines that intersect to make 4 90degree angles. When you put it one way, it can mean addition, when you adjust it another, you have something that has been faught over in religious wars and to some people it's utterlt meaningless, while others will praise it.
"I've won, I've solved the puzzle!" You just have a peice... You know there is this object, you know it has a significance, but just because you have that peice, doesn't mean you've solved anything.
