Then we agree, more time is spent on the nature side rather than the technological side. To consider that an evening out of sorts (it can still be about balance but not be evenly spread), is to assume that we relate to the motivations of the humans that are causing the trouble; that's not necessarily the case, because like you said, a lot of people don't relate to things science-related like technology. We don't see a 'pretty' industrialized town like we do the really gorgeous scenes of nature abundant through the film.

Nature can kinda 'invade' with attacks (willful or otherwise; like you said, natural disasters) to regain territory that the humans are living in; if you're saying that isn't invading, then that means that the only way to keep from encroaching on their territory is to not live anywhere at all, because everywhere we're living was all-natural land initially. =( If you're saying it's done in excess, then yes that's in extreme; but both sides have extremes, like you two said, there were curse gods that were causing undue harm on the other side of nature.

...Hmm, wait, there's also a guy that's sorta close to a scientist; I mean the one who causes the trouble by trying to steal the head at the end. Ths the one who wants to delve into the unknown for reasons other than restoring of the status quo is the one who causes the problems.
