And somedays...
Somedays, you need to blast Pink Floyd.
*Twiches*
Today is one of those days.
Finaly got around to calling VSAC...
You can't get an Advantage Loan unless you have a Stafford loan. ANd I have at least 40,000 more in untapped aid from VSAC.
WTF, GMC! WTF!!! GIMME MY FREAKING AID!
EVERY. FREAKING. SNAG. POSSIBLE. EVERY!!
*Starts singing to 'Another Brick'*
Frannen went to college right out of highschool and nearly flunked out. Didn't graduate. Left with 111 credits and said 'Screw this, I need to get out of here.'
2 years and 200 miles later, Frannen's ready to try this college thing again. Applies and gets into Castleton State and gets shiney grades. Starts having problems with the ballooning size of the college and the lack of classes she wants to take. After much debating and procrastination, Frannen decides she's gonna take a chance and apply for teh shiney Environmental Studies college a little ways down the hill.
Frannen gets in and is insanely happy, even if aprihencive. Private schools are expencive and harder than state schools, but it's so shiney...
So, slowly, stuff gets getting done. Sends in all her paper work, signs up for classes. Everything seems all nice and fine, minus a small, amusing error were GMC (said shiny school) sends the info request to her father's name at her address. Both father and Frannen have a good laugh over it and the paperwork gets filled out and sent back with the note of 'I'm my own gaurdian, as I'm 26.' added in.
Finantial aid is rather dissapointing and distressing. Since Frannen already did 8 semesters of college, GMC thinks she's not elegeble for grants. When asked, GMC says Frannen is still elegeble for scholar ships. Just not ones form the college, apprently, when she asks about the transfer student schlolarship. VSAC (state finantial aid place) sends her paperwork saying she has a grant from them, and an esitmation that she should be getting anotehr 4k grant from the school. Frannen has strong urge to wave it in GMC's face with a "See?! Eleible!" Is told that it will be applied to her account, but not show up on the first bill. Frannen signs the finantial aid paperwork that says 'Congrats! Your aid is a loan! Happy Debting!' and sends it back.
Then Frannen gets another copy of the info request paper work. Rather close to Xmas break. Also included is the bill, which lists housing expenes. Frannen lives in her own apartment less than 15 miles of GMC and indicated she would be comuting. Someone at GMC knew this since Frannen was sent her comuter parking sticker at about the same time as the confusing mailing.
Frannen calls GMC, which, perdictably, as it's very close to Xmas, is mostly closed. Frannen talks to an office lady who corrects the on campus thing, then leaves a message for the billing people. Frannen also notices that her loan is not mentioned on the bill...
A few days later, Frannen gets her room and roomate asignment, dispite change in the computer. Frannen leaves a message for the housing department.
Later, once the holiday madness is over, people return to GMC and call backs occure. The residency misshap is fixed. The housing is removed from the bill. Still no idea what's up with the lack of loan on it, so Frannen is transfered to finantial aid.
Apparently, the signed 'Yes I accept your offer of eternal debt' didn't really count for anything and Frannen is told she needs to fill out more paperwork. A bit confused again, Frannen has it mailed. Frannen also gets a form emailed that is even more confusing. Especialy the 'So you need an addiional loan' part.
Paperwork arives! Frannen looks at it and goes 'Wait, what?' as it's not what she was expecting. Frannen has filled out a similar to this before, for a Stafford loan. Frannen tries to poke at the VSAC webage again, but it still refuses to email her her password.
After a day or two of stress-induced procrastination, Frannen calls VSAC to get the webpage thing fixed.
And finds out she has hit another snag.
The loan paperwork the Frannen was sent only applies if you've maxed out your Stafford loan. You need to have a Stafford loan to acess it. The finanitial aid part of the college needs to give you a Stafford loan.
The VSAC lady also seems rather confused that Frannen has been told she is not elegble for grants, as Frannen still has near 40 THOUSAND dollars of untapped aid avilable
