We were at this pet store, see..

And you could tell there was a problem because when you opened teh door, it stunk..

First we check out the fish section since it's mostly a fish store.

LITTLE TINY PLASTIC BOTTLES with fish in them. Think the size of a large bathroom cup! Stacked!Bloody stacked ontop of each other! These fish had no where to swim to, so they just kinda were floating around.

In the back room, they had the small animals...

The Chincilla cage I don't thikn had been cleane din a month. Shit EVERYWHERE in it... I mean, I know how much Shou has in his cage at the end of a week. This critter was about 4x his size with 100x the droppings visable. The shelf in the cage was littered to the point of being textured and there was a PILE. A freaking PILE! of droppings in one spot.

They had a "Black Bear" hamester they were trying to sell for 35 bucks that was very unhappy looking with what seemed to be PINE BEDDING (probally what they used for all the poor things).

The rats in the cages were huge. I mean HUGE taking up the entire short length of the tank they were in. And there were at least 3 big ones to a cage. One of them was tpushing the lid up of the tank, but since the shelves were so close to the top, it couldn't get out.

Kristen wanted to rescue the ferrets and I wanted to let all the rats ad mice out. I felt... really sick looking at it all.

And I can't find a number or contact for any local ASPCA...

Oh my god...that sounds horrid, I hope you're able to report the place, if not to any kind of animal organization maybe the local police or something can help. That place shouldn't be allowed to keep animals like that, it's awful.

Dude, I would have had to say something. Actually, I would have said something and chewed someone's ass out. Then probably got some gloves and cleaned the critters myself. And when I got home found the ASPCA number on line and then call. Then call the pet store and tell them what I just did and say, "Thats what you get for mistreating animals, bitches." But politer and more haughty, but that would be the jist of my message.

We're going to be calling the Humain Society in Rutland monday (as I don't think they'd be open monday) and ask if there's anything that could be done.

Aye, the stacked fish were probably Betas. If you have more than one in a thing, they kill one another. Still, they could use bigger storage thingies.

I remember going to Walmart (don't look at me that way, it's all we have in this hick college-town) looking for fish food... I made the mistake of asking an employee. Long story short, he told me about how he doesn't 'feed the fish' because then he doesn't have to clean the cups, and they live longer.

Yeah, because they starve to death instead of suffocating in their own self-produced ammonia from no one cleaning their god-damned cups.

Sad thing is, he was really dedicated and loved animals... just a total fucking moron.

Thank god they don't sell puppies.

I have a Knight Complex, sad to say, its genetic. I'll go in guns and sarcasm a blazing when something can't defend itself and I can. Then I generally say, "THE HELL WITH IT!" and reflect later:
