Use Azureus (http://azureus.sourceforge.net/). Works like a charm every time. You can even mess with the max download/upload speed. >D

what are you downloading? i'm trying to get last night's veronica mars (they don't have it in ireland yet) and the speed keeps going from really high to really low...

have to second that azeurawhatsit recommentdation, though, i've tried a fair few progs for torrent DLing and that's the best i've encountered by far.
