Instead of writing my essay... Loveless!
Fran review: New anime: Loveless. (Shounen Ai, fansubs)
Intresting anime. Good/intresting art (thought I do not for one moment b eleive that chick is in 6th grade with that body. Tsktsk) Starts off with a monolouge about someone's 'real name' being Beloved and what happened before, done all pretty and sorta end o Eva like with how the images are presented (only more artistic and darker) Then the 'action' kicks in and you have this kid transfering into school. Small note here, apparently, this culture, y ou have ears and a tail when you're a kid (Judy's theory is that you lose em when you have sex but I think it's more a genereal 'when you become an adult' with sex being one way and maturing being another). So, kid has issues and is very cold and a bit twichy. Boobs McChesty tries to befriend him and he kinda blows her off a few times but she keeps trying. Then you start hitting the plot. There's this adult (no ears) outside who says he's a friend of kid's brother (the 'Beloved' guy from the opening that kid has been sorta angsting abotu being dead) so they hang out a bit (Kid has issues and beleives the only way he can keep from forgetting is to take pictures of things to be memories). THere's awkward converstaion and the dude starts getting cryptic and then tells kid that he loves him (insert blushing here) and kisses him. Dude (Seimei *coughs at name*) says he'd do anything for kid, even die and kid gets kinda '... that's really heavy...' awkward. Conversation on how they have to form a strong bond and enter Ai and Midori [names Fran can remember. :D] Ai is a Fighter and Midori says he's her sacrifice. (there appears to be some real big system about this) and Seimei says that he was Beloved's fighter and now he will be the Figther for Loveless, which is the kid's 'true' name. Ai has this whole 'THat's really sick/tacky, Beloved dies and you just become someone elses Fighter?' thing as Loveless kid has this whole 'I hav eno idea what in hell is going on' sortat hing. Seimei says stuff about being a Fighter and how he can controll words/spells. Short onesided battle ensues between Seimei and Ai/Midori (who are called Breathless, Midori's 'true' name) and Seimei very effortly blows them aside. Ends with Ai & Midori reporting to their higher up and saying that they will bring Loveless there next time.
Whee, crappy ep summery. But anyway. Seems very intresting. Nice style, nice art, nice effects, nice character design, good pacing and plot set up, leaves you wanting to know more but not frustrated. Good first ep. Seimei is preeeety and kid is cute, as is Boobs McChesty, so it meets the 'pleasing to the eye' quotion as well. Dude isn't spineless, but has many issues, which makes nice set up. Seimei has the whole 'I will be your crypic protector' thing going and obviously knows much more them he's explaining (but mostly seems to be doing a 'I'll explain when things come up' thing, rather then holding back info at this point)
Very promicing. Will be DLing more. And the subtitlers (We Suck is the group name, which amuses] have this nice habit of when something is said in English and then exaplined in Japanese, they put the one said in English in French to give it the same feel, which I feel is a very nice touch.
