Fran: The realisitc SI [Fic in progress]

This doesn't really have much a plot yet. I just know at one point there's gonna be a random tounry that Yuugi's gonna win [cause well, DUH. :D]. It'll probally be a bit GX like in the being a random story abotu friendship with new people/person. But without makeing me a Mary Sue I HOPE. >< Hit me if it sounds like it's starting to go that way...

Trying to make my/her dialouge awkward cause she' an American speaking Japanese that she's nto good at. Trying to mostly keep the camera on Yuugi-tachi. And while the me chara is probally going to have a 'He's cute' thought in Bakura's direction cause it IS me after all, there will not be any action on that tjought and I doubt it'll even be verbaliszed.

This is rough draft, so any coments, sugestions, and WTFs are appreicated. :)

"Class, we're going to be having an new student with us for a month as part of a language immersion exchange with our sister city in America."

Yuugi looked up from setting his books out on his desk as the teacher began writing a name in English characters up on the board. "Now I want everyone to be kind to her, this is her first time in Japan and she's still learning the language."

There were vague mutterings of confusion at the name on the board and a few derogatory comments from the class.

The teacher gave a small nod to the doorway and a short, nervous looking girl with brown hair timidly entered the room. "Atashi wa BERIN FURAN desu," she said meekly as she bowed, hands clasped tightly around her pocket book strap. "Douzo yoroushiku ne."

The teacher gave a small nod. "Very good, Berin-san. There's a seat in the back behind Mazaki-san. Ask her if you need any help with anything."

The American girl gave a small nod and headed for the back of the room, pushing her glasses up slightly almost as if to hide behind her hand.

"Hey, Yuugi," Jououchi whispered as the girl walked past. "I think she's shorter then you!"

Yuugi glared at his friend, bristling slightly at the jab at his height.

"Now, everyone get out your books and turn to page 133..."

"Man, I though I'd NEVER survive that lecture!" Jounouchi exclaimed, near slamming his book closed. "Why does math always have to be so damned boring anyway?"

Yuugi smiled, then looked over towards were Anzu was talking with the new girl, who was quickly flipping through a large dictionary, expression rather frazzled and somewhat upset. It had to be hard, Yuugi reflected as he walked over. "Hi," he smiled at the girl. "Welcome to Japan! I'm Yuugi." He introduced.

The girl gave a small smile. "I'm Fran," she returned, nodding her head slightly. "Nice to meet you." She looked back down at the dictionary and gave a small exclamation in English that Yuugi only half understood.

Anzu laughed, nodding, and the girl gave a deep sigh, bowing her head in embarrassment. "Aaa, I'm so stupid," she lamented in Japanese. "I always have those two wrong."

"Don't worry," Anzu assured. "Some of us get the same things wrong with English," she commented, giving Jounouchi a pointed look.

"Anzu speaks the best English of all of us," Yuugi nodded. "So if you get stuck, she can help, right Anzu?"

"Of course!" Anzu grinned.

"Bakura got higher grades then you did last test," Jounouchi said with a smirk. "You can't boast being the best anymore, Anzu!"

"You can't boast at all, Jounouchi of the 30 points," Anzu retorted.

Jounouchi scowled slightly. "I studied the wrong thing, okay?" he defended. "Now lets stop gabbing and get to lunch already!"

Yuugi nodded. "Coming, Fran-san?"

The girl blinked, looking a bit surprised at the invitation, then gave a large smile, nodding.

"So then I said to him. 'Oh yeah? Well I bet you couldn't tell a Fusion from a Ritual!'"

Yuugi shook his head, giving a small laugh as he listened to Jounouchi.

"Last year, you couldn't tell a monster from a magic," Anzu retorted with a smirk. "If you're playing against beginners you have to expect them to not know what they're doing."

"Yeah, but this kid was going on how he had the best deck in all of Japan. Turns out he got Kaiba's deck list from a magazine and copied it. He even had a fake Blue Eyes. Cut out from the same magazine and photocopied, it looked like. I had to take him down," Jounouchi declared. "It was funny when he tried to summon one. The duel disk turned itself off!"

"Of course. Kaiba-kun wouldn't allow a faked Blue Eyes White Dragon to be played," Bakura commented with a smile.

"He probably has something where you need to have his thumb print to play one," Honda agreed.

"With the way that creep it? I wouldn't doubt it," Jounouchi nodded. "Hey, Fran, they have Duel Monsters in America, right?"

The girl startled at her name, then nodded. "Yes. We have more then Japan has, I think. Because the game is made in America, right?"

"Because Pegasus-san is American," Bakura nodded.

"You play?" Jounouchi asked.

The girl nodded again. "A little. I'm not very good though, I haven't played inside months."

"Means Jounouchi'll have a chance to win," Honda smirked.

"Hey!" The blond turned to glare at his friend. "Second place in Duelist Kingdom! And I made the top four in Battle City!"

"And lost how many times to Anzu?"

"That was months ago!" Jounouchi spazzed.

"Calm down, Jounouchi-kun!" Yuugi exclaimed, putting a hand on his friends shoulder. "So, if you'd like, Fran-san, you can come with us after school and we can duel."

"But I don't have my deck," she replied apologetically. "I didn't think I'd need it."

"You can use some of my cards! And my grandfather owns a game shop so any cards you want, you can probably get if you can't borrow."

The girl's eyes went wide. "Really? A game shop?" she repeated. "That's awesome!"

"You like games?" both Yuugi and Bakura asked at the same time.

The girl blushed slightly, nodding. "I'm not very good at most of them. I'll start an RPG and take months to finish it. And Duel Monsters is one of the only card games I do well at," she said, ducking her head in embarrassment. "I like computer games and puzzle games."

"That's okay, Jounouchi's no good at anything except running his mouth," Honda commented.

"Hoooondaaaaa!"

"You are NOT going to get in a fight in the middle of the lunch room!" Anzu said sharply.

Jounouchi and Honda scowled at her, but settled back down.

"So, how about it?" Yuugi turned back to the exchange student.

The girl hesitated a moment. "I'd have to call my host family... but if they say 'yes' I'd be happy," she smiled.

"Great!" Yuugi grinned happily.

"And maybe you can help us with the English homework too," Jounouchi added.

xD I love your Honda. Anyway, I've always wanted to read a good SI. Keep it up! Not Mary Sue-ish at all (although I can see where other people would say it is, just because they're jealous you're getting so much attention from Yuugi-tachi. Then again, Yuugi is a very friendly kid. :)).

Can't wait to see more!

Yeay liking Honda :D

And I don;t think Yuugi-tachi'll give me too much attention. :D Trying to keep that kinda low just to be safe. I'm more a catalist for Jounouchi to puff his ego so far, I think. :D

Oh yeah: You wanna post in YnG this weekend?

I like it. I think it's definetely worth continuing. Not out of character or Mary Sueish at all.
