Shin was a dreamgazer who was condemned to dream the nightmares of others at the age of three, when he sacrificed himself to save his twin sister. Now 19, he has lived a shadow of a life, body weakened from the strain of his nightly torture. Now the Shadows that bound his mind have come to reclaim him.
"You are about to be used to obtain a glorious and magnificent fate..."
Body bound, and mind free, Shin struggles to stay whole, torn between his protector who controls him, the man who wants to, and the enigma that draws him in like a moth to flame. Desperate to escape, Shin appeals to the people he is forced to hurt, and finds help from a very unlikely source: A half demon, a runaway slave, and a two-year-old.
"A half demon, another man, Hawk, a boy, an androgynous youth, a little girl, and another hideous female. They're all in a car together."
A road trip running from authorities picks up a bizarre collection of individuals, each moreso than the last. With no set destination except 'the next coffee shop', they find themselves unwittingly becoming part of a personal war, one which they are more than willing to fight, each for their own reasons...
