Gabriel looked down at the snow-covered earth below him. "I wonder if I would die from cold."
Shin rose to his feet and walked over to the window. "You might," he said softly. "But you don't die from the cold of your ice,"
"I tried to sleep in a snowdrift once when father had kicked me out of the house." Gabriel said absently.
"I fell asleep in one once, when I was ten. Kosei flipped out because she couldn't find me. I blended in. I woke up an hour later, compleatly covered. I would have died from the cold if Mom hadn't come."
Gabriel chuckled slightly. "You blended in.."
Shin gave a soft smile. "That;s why I like snow. Noone notices me in it."
"It took me so long to figure out how to create it." Gabriel joined the subject. "It takes concentration."
"You can make snow?" SHin looked over at the other man.
Gabriel nodded.
"Impresive," Shin smiled.
"I like ice better." Gabriel stated bitterly.
Since winced. "Sorry," he said softly, looking back out the window. "Why?"
"Because snow lets itself be pushed around."
Shin was quiet. "I think I understand. Ice is stonger, more agressive. It causes pain and injury. Snow is passive, and flys in the breese," he leaned out the window some, letting a few flakes fall upon him. "You are the ice, I am the snow. I wouldn't trade it."
"Nor I." Gabriel said. "Snow and ice may feel the same, but they are entirely different creatures."
"They don't feel the same. They just have the same oragin,"
"Snow can be turned into ice by severe trauma, but one must kill the form of ice in order to ake it snow." Gabriel retorted.
Shin nodded. "but in the spring they both melt."
Gabriel nodded. "Curse that spring."
Shin gave a small smile. "The spring returns everything to it's source, so the cycle can begin anew."
"And everything is combined: Thrown into chaos. The winter brings the seperation and purity of a perfect world."
"And what was ice can become snow, and what was snow can become ice,"
"Indeed. Which is why spring is to be damned." Gabriel blew his breath out of the window and watched it vaporize.
Shin shook his head. "It's like life. Spring is death for some, and rebirth for others."
"But it's not like life at all! People are not reborn annually and have the pleasure of knowing how eachother feels! We are all seperate in out misery." Gabriel stated quickly.
"It's an anlogy. People are reborn every lifetime. And not everyone is seperate," He looked out at the snow covered land, his expresion of a mildlonging. "I've always wondered," he said, fingers idily drawing patterns on the window sill, "what would happen if I jumped. If I let the snow reclaim me." He closed his eyes, leaning farther out the window, letting the snow fall upon his face.
Gabriel looked at Shin a while. "Do you want me to give you a push?"
Shin shook his head. "No," he said softly. "I'm not alseep."
"I didn't think you were." Gabriel said.
"If I was, I could let you. But--" he trailed off. "Sorry," he said, shaking his head slightly. "I--" he pulled his head inside the window, expresion slightly troubled.
"I'm used to people talking nonsense." Gabriel said calmly. "I think we'll have to agree to disagree on that one. Being that our spiritual beliefs are different."
"I don;t-- I don't think that was nonsence.." Shin bit his lip, brow furrowed. He shook his head slightly again, dislodging the rest of the flakes. "But I think your right about the beleifs."
Gabriel nodded. "Buddhist, then, are you?"
"Mostly," Shin nodded. "And you?"
"Roman Catholic. But not very faithful, I fear." Gabriel smirked. "Considering.."
